Google, now has become a crucial part of out life... everybody one way of the other use google or google products in each and every aspect. The mobile have ( i'm looking at you android users) is google owned,the super famous email service Gmail is by google, ever stumbled a new word or phrase? don't know about you, but the first thing ill do is google it! i mean come on .. who doesn't? every night i say good night to google in this way " OK Google, Set an alarm at 6 am"


To all the google fanboys out there, here are the interesting google facts that you may never heard of 



#1 Google was officially called "backrub"

Back in 1996 when google was first created it was named something called "backrub" the name was based on ranking pages based on the backlinks provided the funny part is the logo featured hand scan of Larry Page himself 




#2 Google doesn't give a crap about your GPAs

 Yes, you heard that right. The most awesome company to work for doesn't give a sh*t on GPA and test scores in fact google says " its a worthless criteria even to consider GPA and a test scores for hiring process" they even have teams in which 14% of their employees haven't been to collage.


#3 Founders of google tried to sell the company multiple times

Once, founders tried to sell the company to yahoo but yahoo refused to buy the company. However later in 2002 yahoo offered to buy google for $3 billion to which google said no. now google is currently valued to be over a whooping $500 billion (hooof thats a huge amount)

#4 Google has a LOTS of hidden easter eggs

Google is well known for its easter eggs and surprises. This is a cool one...go ahead try it yourself

Have you ever noticed the change in google logo lately? they are called "doodle" (thats what google calls them) The first ever doodle was created on 1998 dedicated to the "burning man festival" to which the founders attended.

#6 What if a google employee dies?

Suppose a google employee dies due to some reason, guess what? his/her spouse receives half of the pay for a whooping 10 years and their children gets $1000 per month until they turn 19. That's really awesome, another reason to work for google.

#7 Google aims to scan all the unique books ever existed by the end of 2020

Oh google, you never stop to amaze us but this is pretty crazy and equally awesome. There are actually more than 129 millions of them. I wonder how they do it!

#8 Google receives more than 5 million searches per minute

 We know that google receives a lot of search quires every. It roughly receives 52,000 - 60,000 searches per second world wide. among the searches that google receives 16% of them are entirely new for google. Just imagine when you are taking a sh*t browsing facebook news feed and then suddenly you wonder.. "why the heck is my poop green" the next thing you do? you just google it!

#9 Google street view 

 Google has this cool feature called "street view" in its maps application for mobile devices which allows the users to literally to take the tour of the street. Google has a car roaming around the street and takes snaps of everything that it find its way but sometimes things can get tricky.. this is where the fun fact lies. Google actually hired a camel (yes that's right a frekin' camel) to create the street view of the desert! They could have used a quad-copter or something.

#10 Microsoft pays its users to use bing instead of google! 

haha..i completely lost it when i read this one. Well played Microsoft, well played!


#11 "I'm Feeling Lucky" button on google homepage costs google $110          per year!

The "I'm Feeling lucky" button produces the first result page from the search results. This is a loss to the company because it bypasses all the ads

#12 Google earns $20 billion from advertising alone

That is way more than of what CBS,FOX,ABC,CNN earns combined a year!


#13 The launch of Gmail was assumed to be a "prank" 

Google is well known for their famous " April fool pranks " to which most of us even today fall. So no wonder in assuming Gmail was merely a prank as it was launched on April 1,2004. #14 Googles first ever storage system was made out of lego computer 

The first ever super company computer was made out a cheap lego cabinet it had consist of ten 4gb hard disk (they were the largest available at that time)

#15 Google is now working on a project that can program itself!

 The future is here! feeding a program to a computer which programs the program itself relying on the program fed to program...not possible!, Unless thats google !

Ranking #1 by the alexa( its an amazon company which ranks websites based on page visits) google holds number one place as the most visited site in the world while facebook ranks #2This is a cool fact.. but why google?

#17 Google has been voted the best place to work for the 4th consecutive time 

 Absolutely no doubt in that one. Google has been named the best place to work by a magazine called "fortune" indeed who doesn't want to work in a place where there's free Wifi, free food, free haircut, self driving cars..oh boy this place is a heaven. #18 When google went down for just 5 minutes, the internet traffic was suddenly down to 40%

The Web had gone nuts on the day when the google went down. Yes, big boys needs to take rest sometimes too. On August 16, 2013 google was down for 5 minutes

#19 Starting from 2010, Google has been buying 2 companies a month 

Why? because google that's why! here's a fun fact: google's Larry Page buys a company only if it  qualifies the infamous "tooth brush" test. He would ask for " is this something you use once or twice a day? " if yes, toothbrush test is passed!
